Kumbia Connections: Restore, Renew & Revive 2024/2025
The Kumbia Hall Committee have committed to an overarching program to restore, renew & revive the Hall Precinct.
First program of works is the urgent restumping of the hall. The hall at 102 years of age has served the community well. 232 stumps and associated works at a projected cost of approx. $200,000. A big task for a small community!
The Kumbia Hall Committee launched the Buy A Stump Appeal on the 13th July, 2024. With a target of $50,000 to replace the most critical stumps first.
Fundraising, letters of appeal to present and past residents and business sponsorship realized the dream. Quotes were sought and the Frahm Engineering Group were awarded the contract. Work began on the 23.10.24. Enough funds were raised to complete 80 stumps in Stage 1. A great result from our small community. Stage 2 - 56 stumps quickly followed with work completed by the 19.12.24. Stage 3 - the remaining 96 stumps under the Supper Room and part of the stage area remain. We are currently fund raising and seeking grants and sponsorship to complete the works. Once the restumping is complete we will then start on restoring and rejuvenating the interior of the hall. Our plan is to have the hall "fit for purpose" for the next 100+ years. We are proud of our past and present community members who rose to the challenge to assist in this vital appeal. We look forward to celebrating the completed works. Keep those donations coming in! #Go Kumbia!
